Artist Reception with Michele Currie
|Date:||Sun, Jul 15, 2018|
Join us for an artist reception with Michele Currie on Sunday, July 15 from 4 - 6 pm.
As a member of the vibrant fine arts community in Portland for more than two decades, Michele primarily works with acrylics, but often uses charcoal, ink, and collage in her paintings, which range from landscapes to still life to figures.
“For me, painting is about making marks and creating shapes: A lyrical line of ink; a broken scribble of charcoal; a thick brush stroke; a series of scratches carved into wet layers of paint…until the image begins to emerge,” says Currie. “Lights and darks pull me in; diversity and change inspire me. They act not only as the connective tissue of my body of work, but the defining characteristic of each piece on its own. A punch of color, usually bright red or pink, has become a signature of my work. My current obsession with neon and fluorescent paint has taken that punch to new and exciting places.”
Guests will enjoy light appetizers while viewing the collection and wine by the glass will also be available for purchase.
