2014 History Upland Vineyard Muscat 750 mL
This wine is not crafted to be unique – it is unique. Planted in 1935, Muscat Hamburg or Black Muscat is highly obscure and hard to find due to the rarity of the varietal.
The grandfather for the region, William Bridgman, planted a variety of Vitis Vinifera starting in 1917, forecasting a demand for wine as prohibition began to roll across the nation.
This wine is aromatic, complex and dry. On the nose, the wine shows floral, brioche and mineral characteristics. On the palate, the wine is dry with long, clean finish.
The 2014 vintage was a near-perfect growing season, with 2-tons of fruit harvested on October 30. The fruit was fermented in stainless steel and aged on lees with frequent stirring, giving the wine a roundness, almost creaminess, in texture.
This wine is an ideal pairing with the brininess of oysters and the perfect wine to toast the start of a meal.
