2016 Late Harvest Riesling
Our inaugural vintage of Late Harvest Riesling celebrates the 20th anniversary of the original Riesling plantings on the estate. Golden in color, this wine has notes of apricot, honeysuckle and lychee. On the palate, the wine is round and rich, with bright acidity that carries the sweetness to a crisp, long finish.
2016 was a warmer than average year in the Willamette Valley, causing smaller clusters and a perfect deceleration of heat accumulation at the end of an early growing season. A touch of rain during flowering gave the clusters a higher skin to pulp ratio, leading to more vibrant flavors and aromas in the fruit. Towards the end of summer, the temperature dropped to near perfect condition and continued well into the fall. This allowed our grapes to have extended hang time and further develop desirable flavor profiles and complexity for a late harvest wine. Because of this, 2016 is one of the best vintages to date.
